Ready for the sunshine!
It had been raining pretty hard all morning. When the parents of the bride and groom arrived, I promised them that the rain would clear up in time for the wedding ceremony at noon. Luckily it cleared up just in time and we began the wedding prelude to the sound of strings right on schedule.
The rest of the afternoon was gorgeous. The toasts were meaningful and heartfelt, and the dance floor was packed.

Mother-Groom Dance
The mother of the groom selected the song “I’ll Stand By You” written by Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders performed by Carrie Underwood. The groom forwarded me the email that his mom wrote about why she selected the song. I was so moved by it, that I asked if I could read it before playing the song:
“If I wrote songs for a living, I would have written “I’ll Stand By You”, myself. From the moment I first held you I knew it would be an adventure raising you. I have been thankful for every minute of it. One day, I gave you and your path over to the Lord because I was so grateful to God for you, but knew that ultimately you were His. All I ever wanted to do was support you and your dreams, no matter what they were. My father always made me feel like if there were no one in my life that stood by my side, that he would always be right there for me. When I became your Mother, the same sentiments grew stronger each day as I watched you grow. One day, you w have the honor of having a son or daughter placed in your arms and in your care so that you too will be there standing by a new little life to nurture and love as much as I have and always will love. Nothing you can do can ever make me love you less.”
