What are Schooners?
Schooners can refer to a class of sailing vessels, or a type of glass. In this context, I’m referring to the latter. In 1991, my friend Chuck and I went on a road trip from New York to Florida. We stopped for a beer in Newport News, Virginia, where the waitress told us that they had a happy hour special on Schooners. We had no idea what she meant, but, as our grinning faces show, we were happy with what we received.
The cover art is an homage to my friend Chuck and that legendary road trip. The music on this mix includes Scandinavian artists, female vocalists, and songs by or about bears.

This is what the future sounded like in 2005.
MP3 blogs got their start in the early 2000s. In 2005, there was a proliferation of music bloggers who posted hot new music, sometimes, in violation of copyright laws. In the post-napster era, mp3 bloggers shared some of the best music the radio would not play. Today, some of those bloggers have their own legitimate satellite radio shows, like Aquarium Drunkard, My Old Kentucky Blog, and Gorilla VS Bear. They are still leading the charge for independent music.
I released this mix in 2005 to showcase some of the new music I was absorbing at the time.
