50th Birthday Party At Nero’s

Classic Rock, Yacht Rock & Jersey Rock

I had the great pleasure of DJing a 50th Birthday party for a good friend at Nero’s in Livingston, NJ. The birthday boy reserved a private room, and we set up our compact system in the corner.

The birthday boy had a great time!

Best Song I Didn’t Play

The birthday boy’s brother-in-law requested We Are The Nowtones by Blotto. We listened to it through the headphones and smiled quietly to ourselves. Hope you do too!

Spring Ford Country Club Bar Mitzvah

Music for this bar mitzvah featured current pop music for the kids and dance favorites for the grown-ups at the Spring Ford Country Club in Royersford, PA. The bar mitzvah screened the music selections personally, rating each song with a yes, no or meh. The Philly Custom DJ team was happy to fulfill the bar mitzvah’s wishes, particularly his desire to be hoisted up on a chair during the hora.

We were especially happy to fulfill the first ever request made by a 3 year old guest. He asked for “I Like To Move It” from the movie Madagascar. When we played the song, the boy’s face lit up and he did a wild dance for the whole song. We wanted to play him songs all night. Continue reading Spring Ford Country Club Bar Mitzvah

The Greatest Wedding No Play List

When planning music for your wedding, the no-play list is just as important as the play list. Maybe more important. As a wedding DJ, it’s my obligation to ask couples which songs they don’t want to hear on their wedding day. Those songs vary from couple to couple. Some people want to avoid cheesy overplayed songs like Kool & The Gang’s Celebration or Pharrell’s Happy. Many couples want to avoid participation dances like the Electric Slide and the Macarena, or entire genres of music like Rap, Country or House Music. On the other hand, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure, so it’s important to ask. Continue reading The Greatest Wedding No Play List
