Jam Odyssey Under The Sea

These Were My Jams in 2013

About a year ago, I saw a post on facebook from producer-friend which had a link to a song with the preface, “This is my jam.” Intrigued, I clicked through and discovered a new social service called — wait for it — This Is My Jam. It prompts you to select a song once a week. I’ve been doing it for the past year, sharing my weekly jams through my Facebook page and Twitter feed. I even made a few new friends on This Is My Jam where I look forward to seeing what my friends will post next, and who might like my current jam.

Jam Odyssey

This week, I got a strange message from This Is My Jam:

2013 Jams Under The Sea.
Dive into your favorite songs of 2013
in a submersive journey of musical exploration.

I clicked the button, and soon after, I got a message informing me that the jambots were finished and my jam odyssey was ready. The result was an audiovisual montage of my jams from the past year along with the messages I attached to each song and the date I posted it. I have no understanding of the technology used to make it, but the beats matched and the whole seamless mix was 11 minutes of mind-blowing fun. You can listen to it here.

A Longer Ride

This Is My Jam also plugs into Spotify. Out of the 62 jams I posted last year, 41 of them are on Spotify and can be found on the playlist below. It’s 3 hours of all-over-the-place musical goodness: funk, soul, break beats, electronica, rock, house and world music.

My Current Jam

This is what I’m listening to this week. Click through to listen. And while you’re there, sign up for a free account and post your own jams!
